Welcome from the Chief Executive

Thank you for showing an interest in joining our MPFT Family as our Director of Corporate Affairs and Communications. Our Trust is recognised locally and nationally for providing innovative and pioneering services and as a leading provider of high quality, patient centred health and social care.

I am proud to lead an organisation with a dedicated workforce which works with people to improve their mental and physical health and wellbeing so that they and their carers and families, can live a better life. Our values-based approach to delivering high quality treatment, support and care focuses on the specific health and social care to deliver a co-produced package of care between the service user and MPFT.

We work best when we work in partnership with the people who use our services and carers; with our staff; with the community; and with other organisations operating in the wider health and care system. I am particularly proud of the significant contribution we are making to transforming services through our active membership of our developing Integrated Care Systems. These partnerships are leading the drive locally for transforming care and support for our communities. In doing so, I place paramount importance on ensuring that we stay true to our values; promote a culture which respects diversity, equality and inclusion and one which empowers and values everyone specifically I want us to focus on population health management and addressing the health inequalities that exist within the geographical areas in which we serve.  Like me you will be aware that the health inequalities are growing and we will see over the coming years increased pressure on the economic and social wellbeing of our populations.

I am seeking an exceptional individual, with significant corporate governance and affairs experience, who resonates with our values and behaviours and is passionate about empowering our teams to embed good governance practice. You will need to be confident and skilled at influencing at senior levels in a complex, regulated environment and have a passion for the fundamental work we undertake to provide the very best outcomes for our population.

As a key member of our Board, you will have a broad remit, leading the Corporate Governance, Legal Services, Communications, Freedom to Speak Up Guardians and Equality Diversity and Inclusion functions and teams. You will be primarily responsible for establishing best practice governance procedures complying with [ICSA] and our Regulators i.e. the Care Quality Commission for example, that will ensure quality, efficiency, effectiveness, integrity and business focus for the Trust and as Company Secretary you will be responsible for ensuring that, as an organisation, we are adequately prepared to comply and secure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks.

As principal advisor to myself, the Chair, Board of Directors and Council of Governors on all issues relating to matters of corporate governance, reputation, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications, equality, diversity and inclusion and legal matters; you will ensure that the Trust’s corporate affairs are undertaken to the highest standards of probity and according to statutory and legislative requirements.
